Clarington Mayor's statement on National Indigenous Peoples Day

Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has issued the following statement.

“On the longest day of the year, we recognize and honour the enduring presence, strength and legacy of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples. This day invites us to reflect on renewal and connection by celebrating the incredible heritage and culture of Indigenous Peoples that have shaped this land for generations.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is a chance to learn from the wisdom, traditions, and customs that have greatly enriched all our lives, while also acknowledging the truths of our shared history and working towards building a stronger shared future for all. This is not only a time of celebration, but also a reminder of our responsibility to listen, to learn and to act.”
