Have your say on how Clarington prepares for flooding, heat waves and other extreme weather
From flooding and heat waves to wildfire smoke and snowstorms, extreme weather can affect how we live, work and spend time in our community. Whether it's a game cancelled because fields are too wet, poor air quality keeping people indoors, property damage from high winds or ice storms, a flooded trail after heavy rain, or a power outage that disrupts daily routines, these experiences help tell the story of how extreme weather affects Clarington.
The Municipality of Clarington is developing a Climate Risk Assessment and Adaptation Plan to better understand local climate risks and identify actions that help the community prepare for future weather-related challenges. Findings from the plan will help inform future planning, infrastructure investments, emergency preparedness and community resilience initiatives.

About the project
Additional opportunities to provide feedback will be available as the project progresses. This work builds on Clarington's Corporate Climate Action Plan adopted in 2021. It also supports Clarington's 2024-2027 Strategic Plan priority G.4.2: Be a leader in anticipating and addressing the impacts of climate change.
