Mayor Foster celebrates boost to ‘Made in Canada’ supply chain

Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has issued the following statement.

“Clarington is pleased to be welcoming D&R Custom Steel Inc. as work begins to build a new plant in Bowmanville for its 65 workers. When the company moves into this modern, larger facility, they’ll be able to handle metal treatment right on-site and at a much larger scale, so there’s no need to send work out to U.S. companies. Clarington’s manufacturing sector is getting another big boost, as The Ganawa Company Ltd. is set to expand local operations and grow their team. Forward-thinking initiatives like these mean faster production times, materials stay local, and we strengthen a ‘Made in Canada’ supply chain that’s more resilient against unpredictable trade tariffs.

I want to thank the Invest Clarington team for guiding D&R’s anticipated relocation through their Clarington Concierge Program and the Ontario government for backing our local economy with AMIC Loan funding through the Regional Development Program. We have a great relationship with our MPPs and the province; the ability and willingness to work together drives growth and innovation in local manufacturing and means more good jobs for people right here in Clarington.”
