Newtonville welcomes Rose Parkette: A playground designed by community voices

Clarington, ON – Residents of Newtonville gathered on Saturday, September 6, to celebrate the grand opening of Rose Parkette, a vibrant new community space located at 79 Rose Crescent. The event marked the culmination of planning and public engagement, resulting in a park designed with direct input from local residents.

The celebration featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster, who was joined by members of Council. Families enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon with a scavenger hunt, jumping castle, and activities—all set against the backdrop of the newly completed playground.

“Rose Parkette is a shining example of what happens when we listen to our community,” said Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster. “From the colours to the equipment, this park reflects the voices of Newtonville residents. It’s a space where families can gather, children can play, and neighbours can connect. We’re proud to officially open this park and see families enjoying it together.”

Rose Parkette features a junior and senior playground, swings, a shade structure, park pathways, seating areas, and an open green space. The design was inspired by nature, with earth-toned colours and treehouse-style elements that were top choices among residents during the consultation phase.
