Road Closure: Prospect Street bridge remains closed until further notice

Prospect Street, between Concession Street West and O’Dell Street in Bowmanville, remains closed due to damage to the bridge. 

The bridge is owned and maintained by CPKC. CPKC has advised the Municipality of Clarington that the damage extends beyond the deck boards, and a more detailed structural assessment is needed before repairs or next steps can be confirmed. At this time, there is no timeline for inspection, repair or reopening. 

CPKC is responsible for all decisions related to the bridge, including inspections and maintenance. Residents with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact CPKC directly at ⁠communityconnect@cpkcr.com.  

Drivers and pedestrians are asked to use alternate routes. The Municipality will continue to work with CPKC, with public safety as the top priority.
