Statement from Mayor Foster on fatal Courtice house fire

Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has issued the following statement:

“We’re deeply saddened as a community after losing a Courtice resident in Sunday’s house fire. On behalf of Clarington Council, I want to share our heartfelt condolences and support with the family, friends, and everyone grieving this loss. We’re also thinking of our firefighters, who put so much on the line and are feeling this tragedy profoundly. As a community, Clarington stands together with everyone affected by this heartbreaking event.

This is a sobering reminder for all of us about the importance of early fire detection.  Every second counts during a fire; please ensure you have working smoke alarms for your family’s safety.”
