Clarington, Ontario – Clarington firefighters rescued two dogs, an alert Pug and an unconscious Chocolate Labrador Retriever, from a Courtice house fire on Saturday, May 27.

Throughout the month of June, Clarington comes together as a community to honour, celebrate, and support our 2SLGBTQIA+ residents, their contributions, and the progress we have made toward equality and inclusivity.

Pride Month is a time to celebrate our 2SLGBTQIA+ community and reflect on the challenges they have triumphed over and those that persist.

Clarington, Ontario – The Municipality of Clarington is proud to announce the launch of a community survey during AccessAbility Week, aimed at gathering valuable feedback to support the development of our next Multi-Year Accessibility Plan (MYAP), which will guide accessibility efforts over the next five years.

“Accessibility is more than just parking spaces and doorways.

Clarington residents will soon see new playground equipment at the following parks:

• Burketon Park
• Harvey Jackson Park
• Haydon Hall Parkette
• Ina Brown Parkette
• Peters Pike Parkette

Crews will work throughout May and June to remove the existing equipment that has reached its end of life and install new play structures. New benches and waste receptacles will also be added, along with trail improvements.

Statement from Mayor Adrian Foster on National Day for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People:

Today Clarington recognizes the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People. Today is also known as Red Dress Day, inspired by Metis artist Jaime Black’s REDress Project Installation, in which she hung empty red dresses to represent the missing and murdered women.

Clarington, Ontario – The Municipality of Clarington supports the local school board’s funding request to the Ministry of Education for a new Kindergarten-to-Grade 12 school in Newcastle.

Due to over-capacity issues at the elementary school in Newcastle, the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board has decided to move younger students to Pines Senior Public School on Highway 35/115.
