Fishing season is opening in Clarington
Fishing season is opening this weekend, and we’re lucky to have some of the best fishing spots right here at home! Clarington’s creeks and waterfront areas will soon see an increase in visitors as anglers take to local waterways to enjoy some of the best sport fishing along the north shore of Lake Ontario.
Before you cast your line – and risk reeling in some trouble – we remind everyone to follow all fishing and parking rules, and be respectful of all shared spaces.
Fishing reminders 🎣
- Fish responsibly. Anglers must follow all fishing rules, regulations, and posted signs. Learn more about fishing rules and regulations on the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources’ website.
- Use the garbage. Do not leave hooks, lures, bait, fishing line, or garbage where it may harm people or wildlife.
- Don’t leave fish to rot. Leaving fish to spoil is illegal. All fish not immediately released count towards your catch limit.
- Do not put fish waste in garbage cans. Take fish home to clean.
- Only hook fish in the mouth. Snagging fish on any other part of the body except the mouth is illegal.
Parking reminders 🅿️
- Park in designated parking spaces only. Vehicles parked in prohibited areas like on the grass, in signed fire routes, dead ends or bike lanes, may be ticketed.
- Follow posted parking times. Parking is not permitted between dusk and dawn, and vehicles may be ticketed if left overnight.
