Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham will hold its fall test of the nuclear alerting system on November 23 and 24. The system warns people in the unlikely event of an emergency at the nuclear generating station in Clarington or Pickering.
The test will take place during daytime hours over two days:
On November 23, an auto dialer will call about 100,000 landline phone numbers within 10 kilometres of the nuclear generating stations. Call display will show the calls as coming from 905-666-6291.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of new hours at the Clarington Household Special Waste Depot located in Bowmanville in the Municipality of Clarington.
When: Effective October 20, the site will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Extended hours to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays only will start again in May and continue until the first Tuesday in October.
This facility is closed Sundays, Monday and holidays.
