  • Clarington takes ground-breaking step to create more affordable housing

    Clarington, Ontario – The Municipality of Clarington is proud to become the first municipality in the province to request a Community Infrastructure and Housing Accelerator (CIHA) order to fast-track new affordable housing.

    Municipalities can use Ontario’s new CIHA tool to request expedited zoning for long-term care facilities, affordable housing, and economic development opportunities.

  • Statement from Mayor Adrian Foster on Bill 23

    Clarington, Ontario - Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster has issued the following statement:

    "The Provincial Government’s passing of Bill 23, More Homes Built Faster Act, has made significant changes to the Planning Act, Development Charges Act and Ontario Heritage Act, all of which impact how Clarington plans and pays for costs associated with growth.

    With a limited ability to raise funds for critical projects, we find ourselves in a challenging position.

    Clarington’s newly renovated citizen-centric ground floor has been unveiled at Town Hall. Front-line staff from throughout the building are now on one level and ready to help! Some of the services that can be accessed include:

  • Firefighter recruits join the ranks of Clarington Emergency and Fire Services at graduation ceremony

    Clarington, Ontario – Clarington Emergency and Fire Services officially welcomed seven new firefighters to its ranks in a graduation ceremony held Wednesday night in Council Chambers.

    The graduating class includes:

    • Firefighter Allen Jewell
    • Firefighter Lyubomyr Marmush
    • Firefighter Marcus Moss
    • Firefighter Meghan Naish (Valedictorian)
    • Firefighter Kevin Noordstra
    • Firefighter Christine Pilon
    • Firefighter Katelynn Shields

  • Clarington to install four new pedestrian crossovers in Bowmanville

    Clarington is installing four new pedestrian crossovers in Bowmanville to help improve community safety and promote active transportation. Starting the week of November 21, 2022, work will begin to install pedestrian crossovers at the following locations:

  • Clarington completes Lake Road extension

    Clarington, Ontario – Work has finished on a ground-breaking project to extend Lake Road in Bowmanville. 

    In 2013, the Municipality of Clarington made the forward-looking decision to upfront the cost to extend the dead-end Lake Road to Bennett Road–unlocking 13 hectares for industrial development and providing businesses a direct route to Highway 401 access.
