Whether you are walking, running, skipping or hopping, these classes are designed to get you outside, get you moving and enjoy fitness with a group of people, physically distanced, of course. These classes will train you to avoid injury, increase speed, reduce fatigue, increase your recovery and, most of all, stay mentally motivated. No matter what your goals are, we’ll have a class that interests you.
- Learn to Run The most important part of the journey is the beginning. This course is designed for the beginner who is overwhelmed to try running on their own. This program starts with the ABCs of running and slowly builds on the foundations that will nurture your love of running for years to come. No previous running experience necessary.
- Stroller Fit Not just a walk in the park. Stroller Fit is a caregiver and baby-friendly full-body workout. Classes will include a combination of cardio intervals, power walks, functional strength training, post-natal specific core work and flexibility. Come out and meet other parents in your community. All fitness levels are welcome. You do not need a jogging stroller; any stroller will do. For safety reasons, mobile infants should remain in their strollers/carriers/backpacks. Classes will be outdoors, so please dress appropriately. In inclement or colder weather, class will be held indoors in the Older Adult Hall at Courtice Community Complex. Please bring your own yoga and/or baby mats, indoor athletic shoes, and refillable water bottle for indoor classes.
- Teen Fitness Training This course is designed for teens ages 13 to 17 to gain confidence and knowledge in working out. Our weekly one-hour class takes place in the Courtice Fitness Training Centre and is led by a Certified Personal Trainer. This is a workout, so come ready to exercise. Teens will learn the proper use of strength and cardiovascular equipment to help build confidence in operating the machines safely and effectively. The Trainer will teach proper form and training techniques for safe, age-appropriate weightlifting, principles used to gain muscular strength and endurance, build cardiovascular endurance, and learn how to build safe and effective workouts. This course will also touch on basic nutrition, overall health and wellness tips and tricks, gym etiquette, basic anatomy and stretching techniques. All fitness levels are welcome.
