Admission standards for public pools
The following admission standards are in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of children using the facility during public and family swims. All supervision and ratio requirements will be strictly upheld. When in doubt, please call ahead.
All swimmers must wear appropriate swimming attire.

* Always Accompanied: Must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who is at least 14 years of age and is responsible for their direct supervision.
Caregiver must be in bathing attire and within arm's reach of the child/children at all times, both in and out of the water.
Guardians or group leaders: Must be at least 14 years of age and are responsible for the children in their care while in the facility, and must directly supervise (in the water) the children at all times.
The following table displays the fees for swimming at our facilities. Prices are in effect until December 31, 2026. Fees do not include applicable taxes.

Group Drop-In fee: Applies to five people total with a maximum of two adults.
- Group Membership Rates: Get a group discount of 20 per cent if three or more family members live in the same household. Proof of address required. Discount eligible at time of sale only; all family members must sign up at the same time. Cannot combine with the Student discount.
- Adult: Anyone between the ages of 18 and 54.
- Senior: Anyone 55 years and older.
- Student: Anyone between 18 and 54 currently enrolled in full-time studies.
- Cancel your membership at any time by completing the Program and Membership Cancellation Form.
- Pay in full or by monthly pre-authorized payments. Adults are responsible for their finances and hold a membership under their own account. Youth under 18 must use a parent or guardian’s chequing account or credit card.
- Memberships are non-transferable.
- Membership renewal notices are sent by email.
- Orono Park Pool takes cash payments only. However, you can still use your membership or multi-visit pass.
To pass the swim test, you must swim two widths of the pool, continuously on your front, in a comfortable manner. Face/head must submerge, and body must stay near-horizontal during the test.

Reminders, tips and rules
We want your swim to be a pleasant experience. Please review our key reminders and helpful tips.
All participants using the pool, whirlpool, or sauna must change from street clothes to a swimsuit or clean clothing brought to the facility for swimming. Participants may wear t-shirts, thin long-sleeve shirts, shorts or tight-fitting leggings. Clothing worn in the pool must allow individuals to participate safely in programs. Head coverings must be tight-fitting and ensure the safety of the participant.
- Undergarments, cut-offs, jeans and loose clothing are not permitted in the pool.
- Remove your shoes before entering the shower and pool area.
- For swimmers who are not toilet trained, specially designed swim diapers are required.
- Patrons wearing street clothes are only permitted to watch from the viewing area.
The family change room is intended for the following use:
- Children six years or younger may use change rooms of the opposite gender if accompanied by a parent/guardian.
- Children aged seven years of age and older are required to use the change room of their identified gender and/or the universal/family change room.
- Universal / Family change rooms are intended for individuals who require additional space, who are accompanied by an opposite-gender support worker or families who wish to remain together.
We ask all other users to use gender-specific change rooms.
Infants and small children cannot be left unattended on the pool deck. Car seats and strollers must be left in the change rooms or designated areas. Children who are not toilet-trained must wear snug-fitting plastic pants or a swim/pool diaper under suitable swimming attire. Regular diapers are not permitted.
To use the slide at Diane Hamre Recreation Complex, you must meet a height requirement of 48”. To use the slide at Courtice Community Complex, slide users must successfully complete the facility swim test. Swimmers under 16 years of age wishing to use the deep end must complete the facility swim test.
Cell phones and picture-taking equipment are prohibited in all change rooms, washrooms, and pool deck. You are permitted to take pictures from the viewing area. To respect the privacy and safety of all patrons, we ask that anyone wishing to take pictures obtains permission from the customer service staff.
Please make everyone’s swim an enjoyable experience and help prevent pool foulings by feeding your children after swimming or at least one hour before. Additionally, have your child use the washroom facilities before entering the pool and as needed throughout their swim to prevent accidents.
Swimming lessons, teaching and coaching
Swimming lessons, teaching or coaching are not permitted during drop-in swimming times unless conducted by Clarington swim staff.
Cancellations and service disruptions
Public safety is our top priority. If Clarington does not have the required number of lifeguards available to work and supervise pools, the Municipality will be forced to cancel other scheduled swimming programs.
Swimming hours may be adjusted due to special events, maintenance, or other unforeseen circumstances. Changes to the schedule will be posted one week before the change, wherever possible.
