Clarington June 24, 2020/- The Municipality of Clarington is working on a comprehensive and independent Ward Boundary Review to identify effective and equitable electoral ward boundaries for the 2022 municipal election and beyond.

Clarington is working on a comprehensive and independent Ward Boundary Review (WBR) to identify whether Clarington’s current ward system is effective and equitable in terms of representation. The existing ward boundaries have been in place since 1996, and since then, the population in the Municipality has grown by almost 50 per cent.

Emergency Road Closure: Cobbledick Road

Cobbledick Road will close at the CN Rail crossing on June 24, 2020 from 7 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m. for emergency rail work.

A public detour will not be available during the closure. There will be no access from Highway 2 to:

  • Samuel Wilmot Nature Area
  • Waterfront Trail
  • Wilmot Creek Community
  • Service Road

Clarington June 23, 2020/- During a marathon Committee session culminating in a late-night Council meeting, Clarington Council passed an unprecedented financial support package for taxpayers and business owners negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The support package totals $2 million, with $1 million dedicated to a temporary property tax relief program, and the remaining $1 million going to a Community Improvement Plan to help qualifying businesses.
