Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is asking residents in Clarington, Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge to book now to receive curbside Christmas tree collection in January. This booking system is part of a pilot project to help the Region plan more efficient collection routes.
When: Residents can book starting today, December 1. Addresses must be registered by Monday, December 27 at 4 p.m. in order for residents to receive curbside collection of their natural Christmas tree.
Where: The new program applies to residents in the Municipality of Clarington, and townships of Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge only.

Why: By helping the Region plan more efficient collection routes, the pilot project will eliminate the need for collection vehicles to drive down every street to collect Christmas trees. This results in increased efficiencies, cost savings and a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
Natural Christmas trees will be composted with leaf and yard waste.
