Clarington March 30, 2020/- As we continue to support social and physical distancing, the Municipality of Clarington is cancelling all spring recreation programming. Clarington is also cancelling indoor facility and sports field permits until May 31, 2020.
“The health and safety of our staff and residents are paramount during this COVID-19 pandemic. We are following public health direction and doing the right thing by cancelling these programs,” said Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster.
Residents will receive a full refund for all spring program and permit payments without any administrative fees added. Residents who paid using credit cards will receive the refund on the same card, and payments over $20 made by cash or debit will be reimbursed with a cheque sent by Canada Post. Cash or debit payments under $20 will remain as a credit on the resident’s account for 24 months. We are working with our registration provider on the refund process; however, due to the volume of registrants, this may take some time.
“We want to thank all of our residents for their patience and understanding as we process these refunds. We look forward to welcoming our community back when programs and activities resume,” said George Acorn, Director, Community Services Department.
Clarington continues to monitor and adapt its operations to the evolving COVID-19 situation. Visit our dedicated web page www.clarington.net/COVID-19 for up-to-date information on facilities, programs and services impacted by the pandemic. The page is updated daily at 4 p.m.
