Clarington May 7, 2020- The Municipality of Clarington has partnered with the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI) as part of a long-term initiative to create a diversity and inclusion staff program.
“As the fabric of our society continues to change, Clarington is a proactive employer, making matters of diversity and inclusion a priority. By partnering with CCDI we will provide our staff with the necessary tools, training, knowledge and awareness that they will be able to use when providing customer service to our residents,” said George Acorn, Director of Community Services.
This partnership will provide staff with access to programs, courses and resource support to understand issues of diversity and inclusion as they apply to the workplace and society in general. Clarington staff will have access to relevant information gathered on regional and Canadian differences in diversity and how they shape our community. Understanding these issues and what makes us different will allow the Municipality to build better community relationships.
“Canada has a rich history of promoting human rights, diversity and supporting inclusion. By providing our staff with a formalized program, we are investing in vital education to augment our knowledge as we work to support our growing and diverse community,” said Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster.
