Fire Prevention Week

Fire Prevention Week is October 6 to 12, 2024

Home fires today can burn faster than ever before. Occupants may have as little as one to two minutes to escape safely from the time the smoke alarm sounds. Knowing how to use that time wisely takes planning and practice.

This year's Fire Prevention Week theme is Smoke Alarms: Make them work for you!

Install

Install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate
sleeping area (like a hallway), and on each level (including the basement) of the home.

Test

Test smoke alarms at least once a month by pushing the test button.

Replace

Replace all smoke alarms when they are 10 years old or stop
responding when tested.
