How to apply
Clarington has a new online job application system. To apply for a specific job opportunity, you will need to sign up for an account to create your profile and upload an electronic copy of your resume.
You will also have the option to add additional information to your profile and upload your resume to our general database. Applicants who apply for a specific job will be considered before applicants who upload their resumes to the general database. We encourage all applicants to create an account and subscribe to job alerts or check back regularly to view jobs and apply directly to the positions they are interested in.
Please note: we no longer accept mailed, emailed, hand-delivered or faxed resumes or cover letters. To apply, all applicants must create an online account.

How to create an account

To create an account and apply for jobs, you need an email address and password.
Follow these steps to create your account:
- Go to careers.clarington.net.
- Click the Log In button found on the right corner of the page.
- Select Don’t Have an Account.
- Fill in the required information and click Create.
- Complete all required fields under the Personal Information tab. If you want to have your resume on file, you may upload it now. This is not required when creating an account. Please note: when applying to specific positions, it is mandatory to upload and attach your resume for each job posting you are applying for.
- If you want to provide additional information, complete the Education and Training, Employment History and Skills sections. These are not required fields for creating your account or applying for a position.
- Once you are satisfied with your profile, click Complete.
- Carefully read all sign-off information. Click the Sign button to create a digital signature, then click Submit.

You will need to create an account before being able to submit an application online.
How to apply to a job posting |
To apply to a job posting, follow these steps:
- Go to careers.clarington.net.
- View current career opportunities.
- Select the desired posting and view details.
- Click Apply Now.
- Sign in using your email address and password.
- Upload a copy of your resume. You may choose to include a cover letter or other relevant documentation. Each posting will let you know what documents are required to be submitted with your application.
- Note: some job postings require you to complete pre-screening questions specific to the job you are applying to. Select the appropriate answers from the drop-down menu.
- Once you have completed all mandatory fields, click Submit.
- Upon successful completion of your application, you will receive notification as well as email confirmation.

Logging in |
I forgot my password. How can I reset it? To reset your password, go to careers.clarington.net and click Log In to go to the Sign In page. Next, click Forgot Password. Enter your email address, click Request Password Reset, and then check your email for instructions to reset your password.
Do I need to log in to search for and review jobs? No, you don’t need to log in to review current job postings, however, if you want to apply for a job, you must log in.
Can I apply for a job without creating an account? No, you must have an account in the system to complete the application process.

How do I create an account?
Go to careers.clarington.net and click Log In to go to the Sign In page. From here, click on Don’t Have An Account and follow the instructions.

Applying to job postings |
How do I apply for a job? Click the Apply Now button found at the bottom of every job posting on the details page. If you are not signed in, you will be prompted to do so. Once you are logged in, follow the steps to upload a copy of your resume, cover letter, or any other relevant documentation.
Some job postings may require you to complete pre-screening questions specific to the job. Select the appropriate answers from the drop-down menu provided. Once you have completed all mandatory fields, click Submit.

After clicking the Apply button, why am I asked to enter my email address? If you're not logged in, you may be taken to the Sign In page after clicking Apply Now. By inputting your email address, the system will identify whether you're a new applicant or a returning applicant with an existing profile. It will then direct you to the next logical step in your application.
How will I know if my application was received? After you click Submit, you will receive an instant notification in the browser and a confirmation email.
How can I check the status of the job I've applied to? You can check the status of any position you have applied to by logging in to your account. Click My Job Applications on the upper right-hand corner of the page. The dashboard will display all positions you've applied to, along with the status of each one.
What does it mean if my status says Active? Closed? This is the status of the position you have applied for. If the status is listed as active, it means the job posting is still open and accepting applications. If the status is listed as closed, the job posting has closed to applicants. The status does not indicate your position in the hiring process. We will only contact applicants under consideration to advance to the next stage of the hiring process.

Updating and submitting your information |
How can I update the information in my online profile (including my resume)? To update your information, log in to your account and click the Profile button. On your profile page, you can update your personal information, including your resume. When finished, click Save at the bottom of each page.
Can I submit my resume for general consideration rather than applying to a specific job? To ensure your resume is considered for a specific job posting, you must apply to the position and attach your resume at the time of application. You may submit your resume to our general database when you update your profile, however we consider applicants who apply to specific job postings first.

Searching for a job |
How can I search for a job on the career site? Job postings are listed by closing date, with the earliest closing date listed first. If there are multiple postings, you can search by job type, or use additional filters such as location and department, to narrow your search.

Managing job notifications and communications |
I'm interested in receiving general job updates and other notifications from Clarington. How can I do this? Sign up to receive job alerts by logging in to your account/profile and clicking the Job Alerts button. Select the Subscribe to Job Alerts Default box and click Save.
Is there anything I can do to prevent Clarington’s email alerts from going to my spam/junk folder? When you create a new account, you should receive an email from us asking you to confirm your email address. If it doesn’t appear in your inbox, check your junk/spam folder. Open the email and mark the message as "Not Junk" or follow the steps provided by your email provider to move messages from Clarington to your "Safe List."
Similarly, when you submit a job application, you should receive an email confirming that we have received your application. Check your email inbox right away to make sure you’ve received confirmation. If not, check your junk/spam folder.
