The Municipality of Clarington is planning to reconstruct Darlington Boulevard from approximately 60m south of Highway 2 to the southern terminus, south of Foxhunt Trail.
The existing road has fallen into poor condition largely due to age and an absence of proper roadway drainage, which has led to cracking, heaving, potholes, and breaking apart from the road surface. The existing road conditions pose a safety risk for motorists and pedestrians who travel along this road corridor, particularly in poor weather conditions.
The Region of Durham will be completing sanitary sewer extensions and replacing infrastructure that has reached the end of its service life within the limits of this project. This infrastructure will include the replacement of select sanitary and watermain private service connections.
The proposed work includes:
The proposed design will avoid potential impacts to private properties as much as possible; however, local driveway aprons and front yards will be affected. The Municipality will reinstate the driveway aprons to match their existing conditions.
A public information centre (PIC) was held virtually on Thursday, November 6.
