Sign Permit
If you plan to erect a sign in Clarington, you must fill out and submit a sign permit application form. This is required for both permanent and temporary signs. Your sign must comply with the Sign By-law, Building By-law and Zoning By-law.
How do I apply?
Permanent or temporary (non-mobile) signs
- Fill out the online sign permit application form.
- Upload an electronic copy of plans or drawings showing the location, size, type and precise wording and illustrations of the sign.
- Pay the fee requested within the form and submit the application.
- If approved, a staff member will contact you to provide a sign permit number.
Temporary mobile signs
It's now easier than ever to apply for a mobile sign permit through the Service Clarington portal. To get started, visit the Service Clarington portal and register for a new account. Note: to apply for a temporary mobile sign permit, you must have a valid annual Municipality of Clarington Mobile Sign Operator's Licence.
