Animal Adoption

The Clarington Animal Shelter is now open Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., to purchase animal licences and drop off adoption applications. If you have found a stray or lost animal, please call the Animal Shelter to make arrangements to bring the animal in.

To adopt an animal, fill out an online application with the animal ID and name of the animal you would like to adopt. We will contact you to discuss the animal’s needs, personality and ideal forever home.

Adoption hours are Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Animal Fee
Kitten (under six months old) $155 (Kittens under six months are too young to be spayed or neutered, new pet parents will receive a $75 rebate with proof of the spay or neuter.
Cat (over six months old) $155 (Adult cats are sterilized before being adopted)
Puppy (under six months old) $500 (Puppies under six months are too young to be spayed or neutered, new pet parents will receive a $100 rebate with proof of the spay or neuter.
Dog (over six months old) $400 (Adult dogs are sterilized before being adopted)
Rabbit $45
Guinea pig and other small animals $25

Both cats and dogs will be micro-chipped and have their first vaccine. You will also receive a free Clarington municipal pet licence.

We encourage all family members, including dogs, to participate in the meet and greet portion of the adoption process to ensure your chosen pet is the right fit for your entire family. Once you meet the dog of interest, you can bring your dog in for a second visit.
