Clarington, Ontario – Council has endorsed an Inclusive Spaces Policy and granted approval for Clarington to start the process to join the Coalition of Inclusive Municipalities, cementing its commitment to combat racism and discrimination.

Clarington developed the Inclusive Spaces Policy in partnership with its Diversity Advisory Committee to create an open environment where everyone is welcome to freely enjoy our facilities and spaces without fear of harassment, racism, and discrimination.

Progress report card: Clarington releases an update on its Corporate Climate Action Plan

The Municipality has released its first report on progress and work done to date to accomplish the goals set out in the Clarington Corporate Climate Action Plan (CCCAP), approved by Council in March 2021. The Action Plan contains 115 specific actions that the Municipality can take to adapt corporate assets, operations, and services to limit the negative impacts of climate change and reduce its greenhouse gas.

Batter up: get ready, cricket is coming to Clarington

Staff in Public Works have been directed by Council to install a cricket pitch overlay on the municipal soccer field located at Rickard Neighbourhood Park in Newcastle. Staff are also investigating a partnership with a local Courtice school to create a cricket pitch overlay on one of the existing sports fields.
