North Village Secondary Plan

Project description

The North Village Secondary Plan will create a neighbourhood centre at the heart of the new community, surrounded by a mix of housing types.

The neighbourhood centre will provide for convenient access to shopping and services, park space, and a school. The design of the neighbourhood will be walkable, with pedestrian and cycle connections throughout the community.

Sustainable design elements, such as EV charging stations and stormwater management, will also be included.

The North Village Secondary Plan also includes an Environmental Assessment (EA) for two new collector roads that are subject to Schedule B or C of the Municipal Class EA Process. The EA is proceeding using the “Integrated Approach” with the Planning Act, which is an approved process under the Environmental Assessment Act. The MCEA for the Regional Road 17 realignment is a separate EA process.

Draft North Village Secondary Plan

On June 27, 2023, the Municipality presented the Draft North Village Secondary Plan, Urban Design and Sustainability Guidelines, and the accompanying Zoning at a Statutory Public Meeting. Copies of these documents and the public meeting materials are available below.

Background

The Terms of Reference for the North Village Secondary Plan were presented at the Planning and Development Committee meeting held on April 1, 2019. The North Village Secondary Plan will be part of the Official Plan, providing detailed direction on land use, transportation, infrastructure, phasing of development and urban design.
